Softball: Previewing Matchup With Mt. SAC

Rio Hondo women’s softball team will play against Mt. San Antonio Tuesday, Feb. 26 at Rio Hondo at 3:00 p.m..

The Roadrunners lost their last six matches in twelve days and they struggled to play defensively. Their performance this season has been inconsistent home and away.

They lost 4-0 against LA Harbor away on Monday, Feb. 11. The next day, they were defeated by Compton City College 11-3. Just a week later, they lost to Chaffey 8-1. Unfortunately, they couldn’t score a run in four days against Pasadena City, Citrus, and Fullerton. Rio Hondo never won a conference game this campaign and must get back to winning ways.

On the other hand, opponents Mt. San Antonio has been superb this season with nine wins, one defeat and zero draws. They’ve won four conference games with confidence. They ended Long Beach City College winning streak and destroyed them 10-1. Just two days later, they won comfortably against LA Harbor 7-0 at home.

The Roadrunners have a young squad, but they need to practice communicating with their teammates and read the game during training. The head coach from Rio Bianca Urquidi must find a great pitcher from her team to pitch well on every match.

The last time the ladies from Rio won a match was against San Diego City With the score 7-4. They may be struggling this year, but they have young squad ready to take on any opponent in their path. Rio Hondo won two games, lost ten, and draw once which is not bad for a young team.
