Women’s Basketball: Roadrunners Hang on for Win Against Pasadena

Friday, Feb. 8, the Roadrunners women’s basketball team made a comeback to beat the Lancers 58-57. Rio Hondo had a tough first half behind Pasadena 31-23, but quickly bounced back in the third quarter to outscore the Lancers 21-12 and gain the lead 44-43.

As it came down to the fourth quarter, both schools scored 14 points to end the game 58-57. The Roadrunners finished the game with a 50% field goal average while the Lancers ended with 22.7 percent.

Rio Hondo also led in threes with 27.5% and Pasadena with 13.5 percent. Rio Hondo was outnumbered in rebounds 40-60 and had a high number in turnovers with 25-15.

Candace Black had an amazing game for Rio Hondo with a double-double. She led the game with 22 points, 10 rebounds, and three blocks. Amanda Lee also had a solid performance with 11 points and five assists while Robyn Quintana ended the game with 11 points, three assists, and three rebounds.

This was a much needed win for Rio Hondo because they were on a two-game losing streak. Having lost to Mt. San Antonio 66-57 on Wednesday night and East Los Angeles 88-64 last Friday.

Roadrunners now hold a record of 15 wins and 11 loses. Catch Rio Hondo play against LA Trade_Tech on Wednesday, Feb. 13 at 7 p.m. in Los Angeles.
