Roadrunners Soccer: Men’s and Women’s Teams Make Regionals

With the regular season of the six teams participating in fall leagues coming to an end, there will be two of the teams participating in Southern California Regionals begining Saturday, Nov. 17.

The men’s and women’s soccer teams have both managed to claim their spots in the postseason to represent the Roadrunners in the nexy round.

At 11-3-5 overall, the women’s team goes into the seeding meetings as no. 7 in Southern California.

The meetings which determine who plays who were held today after the release of this issue.

What’s guaranteed is that a seventh spot in the region should mean the women’s side will be the host for the first round.

“We are looking forward to playing on Saturday and know that every team is good in playoffs. We’ll focus on training all week to prepare for our game. On Saturday, we have to put our best in from the beginning, do the little things and have fun competing.” Head coach Jennifer Tanaka said.

The men’s team, coached by Orlando Brenes, will also feature in the postseason festivities with a home game looking possible as well.

10-4-3 overall the Roadrunners defeated conference winners Mt. San Antonio in their first meeting with the Mouties winning the grudge match which ultimitely seperated their rankings. Expect the men to also play at home on Saturday.
