Women’s Volleyball: Lady Roadrunners Lose its Third Game in a Row

The East Los Angeles College Huskies rolled into Rio Hondo’s Gym and swept the Rio Hondo Lady Roadrunners in three games to hand the hosts its third consecutive defeat Wednesday night.

The loss puts the Lady Roadrunners record at 1-3 in the South Coast Conference-North and with that a position in last place in the division.

Head coach Teddi Esko’s ladies lost each game by less than five points and had leads in all three. Inconsistency made it difficult to close sets while passiveness on the court handed the Huskies point after point.

A total of 19 errors in attack negated 38 digs by the defense which continues to perform well yet have only one win to show for it in the last six games. It’s been problematic at the front court for the Lady Roadrunners all season as the team’s hitting percentage Wednesday was .125 or bellow in each set. A total of 96 take-ons resulted in just 27 kills.

Up next the Lady Roadrunners have three non-conference matchups, started with the visit of Cerritos College to Rio Friday Oct. 19. First serve is set for 6 p.m.
