Andre Ingram makes his first NBA debut

32 year old Andre Ingram finally got his start. After 10 years in the G league Ingram checked into his first NBA League late in the first quarter.

Ingram made his first 4 shots Tuesday night. His shots included 3 from behind the 3-point arc. In total he finished with 19 points and 3 blocks in the Lakers 105-99 loss to the Houston Rockets. After every shot, the crowd went crazy and cheered for Ingram. They chanted “MVP” as Ingram continued to shine.

“Everyone was like, ‘Man when you get it, just let it go, Everyone was like that. All the players, all the coaches. From the team warm- ups, the atmosphere was electric. You could feel something in there. MVP chants, thats just crazy. Like I said to myself, make the free throw, make the free throw, make the free throw,” said Ingram.

Ingram’s first game was historic. Since Nick Van Exel made 23 point in his first game in 1993, Ingram has the second highest scoring points in his debut. Many teammates congratulated him and cheered him on. Even Chris Paul of the Houston Rockets, walked over and talked to Ingram.

“I told him I heard about his story and that grind is unbelievable. I told him ‘much respect’ Ten years grinding in the G league, and to finally get an opportunity and to play like that is pretty special,” said Paul.

“It’s been a joy. Ten years in the D league, but it wasn’t like 10 hateful years or years I didn’t enjoy. I enjoyed my time in the league and all of my teammates, and I heard from everyone of them. Of course there were times of ‘I’m not sure if this day is going to happen or not, but thankful that it did,” said Ingram.

This is only Ingram’s first game. He earned his spot to be able to play against the Los Angles Clippers Wednesday.
