Potential realignment of MLB

Major League Baseball is considering to expand to 32 teams that would cause a realignment of the divisions. If this were to happen it would cut the season to 156 games instead of 162 game season we’ve been used to. It would also give each team a day off a week and restructure the postseason bracket.

The conversations are growing within the league as it would put more teams “In The Hunt”. This would ultimately end the American League and National League. With the realignment of the league, the rivalries will be kept intact. Considering all the teams in each division will be in the same timezone. The travel for teams will be far less taxing and result in shorter flights.

The most likely to gain a team? Portland and Montreal. The potential owners will have to pay a franchise fee to be allowed in the league. They would pay well over a billion dollars and each team would get about 66 million for a simple vote.

This is just a trial run made by MLB to see how people would react if they were to make a move like this was made. A realignment of the league seems to be an inevitable move as it would simply more convenient for team owners.

A change like this still an option but for now only in the talks.
