The Arroyo Knights defeated the Shurr Spartans; a team that everyone said will take down the Knights, but they were wrong as the Knights won 28 to 14.
The rain was falling but stopped before the game started and with the field muddy and wet, it would indeed be a great game. As the game started the Knights received and went down to the Spartans 15, but didn’t get any points on the drive.
Shurr started their drive and went 3 and out to give the ball back to the Knights. The knights didn’t do much in their second drive and punted to Shurrs 3.
The defense of the Knights got a pick which brought the offence back out which scored the first game points to lead 6 to 0 after a miss field goal.
The Spartans third drive went down with a sack and the Knights defence got another pick which the Knights capitalized and scored to make it 13 to 0.
Shurr was on Arroyos 30, and faked punt on fourth down and ran it all the way for a touchdown to make it 13 to 7.
Arroyo went three an out and gave the ball back to Shurr. As the Spartans fans thought it will be a great drive for them the Knights defense got another pick to end the first half with three picks and a sack, Arroyo leading 13 to 7.
Shurr received to start the second half and went three an out. Quarter back Coto for the knights threw a 50- yard touchdown and ran it in for the two point conversion to give the Knights a 21 to 7 lead over Shurr.
As the Spartans looked like they were going to score sonny stripped the ball an Arroyo gain possession ending the third quarter 21 to 7.
The fourth quarter started Arroyo went three an out. Shurr still couldn’t do anything and went three an out to punt the ball and was bobbled by the Knights which the Spartans recovered on the fifteen.
The game got interesting with the Spartans scoring and making it 21 to 14, Knights still leading.
The Knights went on fourth down and didn’t get the first and lost it on downs. The Spartans drove it down to the red zone and bang the Knights fans cheering as the defense forced another fumble and Arroyo recovered it.
The Knights offence was back out and the running back Randy took it for 74 yards for a touchdown making it 28 to 14.
The Spartans looked frustrated as the the Knights fans sang “nah nah nah nah hey hey hey goodbye” to the Spartans as Arroyo took the game to make it to the semifinals.
The Knights take on San Dimas to make it to the championship game.
