AI can make fake HD videos that brings next level of “Deepfake”

A new developed AI can turn animated drawings into a fake HD video. Created by Nvidia and Massachusetts Institute of Technology. The program uses a moot network to create the fake video.

In order to create the altered video. AI uses the same components used for a real video such as foreground, layers, background, and many key elements. You can also add false structures to the video to make it look like a real video. AI uses frames based on the sketches in order to make them look like a real video.

Professor Hany Farid, a digital forensic expert at Dartmouth College states, “ It is sort of stunning, the progress that has been made” as they compare the life-like footage which is produced to create the fake videos. Farid believes the videos are a real threat to society because it will be difficult to regcognize the difference between the two videos.

There have been similar ideas that have already been used such as “deepfake” videos of many people. Famous Oscar winning writer Jordan Peele, created a deepfake video of Barack Obama on how everything you see on the the Internet is not true. Professor Farid stated “ As the technology advances, distinguishing real videos from fakes is a significant problem”. Only Fact checkers can spot the difference between a real video and a fake one. Technology has made it very difficult for people to know which is the real threat.
