The Battle of Words & Witches: Banks vs Del Rey

When it comes to controversy in the tabloids, one name always comes to mind, Azealia Banks.

Azealia Banks is a well-known music artist, producer, and rapper.

After her 2017 album, Slay-Z, she worked in releasing her top singles, “Treasure Island” and “Anna Wintour.” She has also made a debut in the documentary, “Love Beats Rhymes” and has been featured on tracks with several artists like Childish Gambino and Fall Out Boy.

However, through her career as a musician Banks holds the title for being the queen of controversy. No social media platform is safe from the rants and raves of Banks. Twitter is a familiar app in which Banks uses to express her opinions and feelings towards various subjects. And at times towards many celebrities and other musicians.

For example, searching “Azealia Banks vs” on Google’s search-bar, a vast list appears from Beyonce, SZA, TI, Elon Musk, Grimes, Cardi B, Zayn Malik, Lupe Fiasco, Sarah Palin, Russell Crowe…the list goes on.

Banks’ latest “Twitter beef” is with singer and artist, Lana Del Rey. Recapping the incident: Kanye West’s latest Instagram post (before he deleted his account) was him wearing a MAGA hat which he claimed to be representing America. Becoming one whole and abolishing the 13th amendment. Del Rey’s reply basically shunned West for supporting Trump.

After it being brought to her attention, Banks took to Twitter to state her opinion on the matter, “Wow okay Lana, this would be cute if you were consistent with your outrage and refused to collab with ASAP rocky who has physically assaulted women too,” Banks tweeted, “To me this just looks like the typical White woman taking using a weakened target to
‘pretend’ to be an ally.”

Banks made allegations against Del Rey opposing her comments about West’s support of the president.

“Especially because you know that a white woman vs a black male will result in an immediate victory for the white woman due to societal circumstances,” she tweeted, “You wouldn’t dare challenge a black woman in her opinion because you don’t have that (much of a) social prejudice in place between.”

Banks then suggested that Del Rey apologizes to West saying, “You would never in your white mind try to battle ME on my ideas … I suggest you apologize to Kanye for trying to selectively make him complicit in 45’s abuse of women simply for agreeing with parts of his ideology while you frolic through society with other black male abusers.”

Banks told Del Rey that it’s not fair to hold West accountable for the president’s past allegations. Instead, Banks is holding Del Rey responsible for supporting someone like ASAP Rocky. Who in fact, did assault a female fan back in 2013.

The claws really are out in this debate.

Soon after Banks’ took a stab at Del Rey’s appearance saying she had a 27-year old’s face but a 60-year old lady’s body. Ouch. So, Del Rey responded of course via Twitter: “u know the addy. Pull up anytime. Stay it to my face. But if I were you- I wouldn’t.”

Beef aside, both ladies make VERY STRONG valid points. Del Rey believes that someone like Trump should not be supported for his weak representation as the 45th president. And Banks believes that society is still stuck in a racist America.

Whatever the case, both “witches” will stand by their words and opinions…guess we can call it “bitch-craft.”
