The Queer Initiative Scholars program meets at the Learning Resource at Rio Hondo College every other Wednesday.

The Rio Hondo College (RHC) Queer Initiative Scholars program is hosting “Let’s Have a Kiki,” a student mixer that provides workshops about queer topics, in addition to games, arts and crafts, and many more activities throughout the Spring 2023 semester.

Students can attend meetings every other Wednesday. They started on Wednesday, Feb. 8, but will continue until May 3. The mixer will begin from 3 p.m. until 5 p.m. at the Learning Resource Center (LRC) in Room 128.

The Queer Initiative Scholars (QI) program assists students in the LGBTQIA+ community through the educational system and achieving their career and educational goals while also offering benefits such as financial aid assistance, scholarship assistance, and other services.

Students in the LGBTQIA+ community and allies can come together to socialize and have conversations on building a safe campus for the student body at RHC.

QI Scholars program also holds a support group, “Cuz, I Love You,” for students in the LGBTQIA+ community via Zoom every Wednesday from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. Also, on Valentine’s Day, Feb. 14, QI will host the first ever “Queer Talks” in the Student Union (SU) building Room 201, the Student Lounge.
