Student Taken by Ambulance from Rio Hondo Health Center

A Rio Hondo College student was taken by ambulance from the Student Health & Psychological Services center Wednesday afternoon. Paramedics brought the male student out on a stretcher from the second floor. Emergency vehicles held up traffic near parking lot C before leaving promptly. Eyewitnesses outside the Student Services building said the ambulance arrived and left within about ten minutes.

Dr. Alisia Kirkwood, Interim Dean of Student Affairs, said the student’s name and condition could not be disclosed for legal reasons and to protect the student’s  privacy. Faculty in the nearby CalWORKs center said paramedics brought the student out quickly and quietly. Students inside the building said they did not even notice emergency responders were there.

Students in need of medical or psychological services on campus can go to SS230, or call (562) 908-3438 to schedule an appointment.
