Rio Cafe Long Wait Times Cause Frustration

Rio Hondo College opened its doors again January 30, to mark the start of the 2017 Spring semester. However, the hustle and bustle of the new semester has also created a flood of hungry students at Rio Cafe, causing some students to complain.

Food quality aside, a common complaint of Rio Cafe, many students cite understaffing to be the cause of the overcrowding problem.

“There are very little workers,” Rio Cafe patron Sharon Torres complained. “Especially [the Grill], they lag on your food.”

The Grill consists of hot food prepared on the spot, and thus can be a catalyst for long lines, and unfortunately, hungry students. However, some concerned student pose suggestions.

“Open up a couple more lines,” Marco Rivas says. [It would] help [the cafeteria] to be more efficient.”

Hopefully, as the flurry of the start of the semester dies down, so will overcrowding in the cafeteria.
