The Student Leadership Program at Rio Hondo College is currently accepting applications until Sept. 25 at 4 p.m..

The applications are free for all students enrolled at Rio Hondo College. There is no unit requirement, specific GPA or any leadership experience needed in applications.

Before applying to the Student Leadership Institute, the students must attend an orientation to get their applications approved.

The dates of the orientations are September 16th at 10 a.m.-11 a.m, September 18th at 1 p.m-2 p.m and September 23rd at 10:30 a.m-11:30 a.m.

There are two levels of the applications. The level I applications are open to anyone although in order to apply for Level II of Student Leadership Institute program, one must have successfully completed Level I of the program.

Level I students who are successfully accepted into the program, must attend three mandatory conferences in order to complete Level I. Level II students are required to attend two mandatory seminars to participate.

It’s also important to note that there are only 100 students permitted in each level and applying as soon as possible it vital.

Members of the Student Leadership Institute are able to learn and improve their leadership skills through different workshops offered in each conference.

Some of the examples of the workshops are Ethical Decision Making, Time Management, Finding an Internship, Vision and Goal Setting and Event Planning.

All of the skills learned during the conferences are essential for one to become a responsible and successful leader in the future.

The Student leadership Institute is a non-credit certificate program that is partnered with California State University, Fullerton.

However, each participatant should attend the conferences and meetings regularly to be eligible to receive the certificates. Otherwise the student will be removed from the program.

Leadership plays an essential role in our campus, future career and our community. For students who are interested becoming leaders and developing their leadership skills , the Student Leadership Institute is a well-qualified program for them to join.

To apply for Student Leadership Institute, candidates must either complete an online form on OrgSync.com, or submit an SLI application to Student Union building at room SU-201.
