Active Minds Club fundraises to support festivities
The Active Minds club held their fundraiser in front of the Rio Café on April 17, at 11:15 a.m., in supporting their ongoing campus festivities by selling preordered Krispy Kreme cards.
The Active Minds club and organization, “empowers students to speak openly about mental health in order to educate and encourage others to seek help in their area. We try to bring in the conversation of mental health to students in dealing and overcoming stress and depression,” Active Minds’ Publicist Kevin Phung was quoted as saying.
In planning campus wide events, the group aims towards creating a comfortable environment of open discussion of these mental health issues.
All proceeds go towards keeping the club active in hosting these mindful events for students at Rio Hondo.
Active Minds’ President, Irene Reyes, also explained, “because Active Minds is a trademark, we have to pay dues to the company in addition of keeping up with the costs of running these events here in the Rio Hondo Chapter. They handle bigger events while we do more local events.”
Active Minds will be making their appearance in the upcoming school event, Rio Olympics, on April 24, and will be holding a fun game called, “Wheel of De-Stress.”
The club also released the results of the “Anti-Stigma Airshow,” held on April 10. These are the following winners:
Jorge Pino – Long Hitting Time
Jake V. – Distance
Nicky P. and Carolina – Raffle Winners
Be sure to check the club out at the Rio Olympics and participate for more on-campus endeavors.
