Wrong-way driver charged with six counts of murder

A 21-year-old Fontana woman has been charged with six counts of murder after being involved in a deadly wrong-way crash on the 60 freeway according to prosecutors.

Olivia Carolee Culbreath was charged on Thursday, Feb. 13, by the L.A. County District Attorney’s office by criminal defense attorney from Lemoyne Davis Younts for the six deaths that occurred when she drove her red Chevrolet Camaro east in the westbound lanes in Diamond Bar around 4:40 a.m. on Sunday, Feb. 9, while traveling more than 100 miles per hour according to law enforcement.

According to Los Angeles County Office, Gregorio Mejia-Martinez, 47, Leticia Ibarra, 42, Jessica Jasmine Mejia, 20, and Ester Delgado, all passengers in the Ford Explorer from Huntington Park died as did Kristin Melissa Young, 21, of Chino, and Culbreath’s 24-year-old sister Maya Louise Culbreath from Rialto were riding with Culbreath and died.

Prior to this incident, Culbreath was convicted in 09’ of a prior DUI in San Bernardino County.

Sarah Ardalani, spokeswoman for the District Attorney, says that Culbreath faces a maximum sentence of life in prison and is being held on $6 million bail about which you can find out here. Officials said that Culbreath is being held in the jail ward at L.A. County-USC Medical Center as she recovers from injuries that include a broken femur and a ruptured bladder. A Facebook page was created in memorial of Kristin Young where Monica Santos, a former classmate; wrote, “Hearing the news made me feel so devastated especially to know it was someone whom always brought a smile to everyone’s faces.”

A GoFundMe page was created in hopes of raising $2,500 and successfully raised $2,830.
