Rio Hondo aids students with Taxes

Starting Feb. 7, Rio Hondo will partner with the IRS in their Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program, offering free tax preparation.

This will take place on Fridays, only from Feb. 7 until April 11 from 9:30a.m. – 2:30p.m, excluding Feb. 14, & March 28, at Rio Hondo in room B-118 in the Business Bldg.

VITA prepares: Form 1040, 1040A, 1040EZ, Standard and Itemized Deductions, Earned Income Tax Credit, & Schedule A, B, C-EZ.

They do not prepare: Form 1040NR, Schedule C, D, E, F, SE, Married Filing Separately, Rental Property, & Farm Income.

Items you will need to bring: Photo ID for everyone on the return, actual Social Security cards for you, your spouse and all dependents (no photocopies), Birth dates for you and all dependents, Wage and earnings forms (Form W-2, W-2G, 1099-R), Interest and dividend statements (Form 1099s), A copy of last year’s Federal and State returns if available, Bank Routing Numbers and Account Numbers for direct deposit (bring actual check), Other relevant information about income and expenses: interest statements, -documentations if itemizing, -total paid for day care and day care provider’s tax ID #.
