Turkey shoot at Rio Hondo!

Celebrate and give thanks this holiday season by participating in the Turkey Shoot being held by the Veterans Club at the Rio Hondo Police shooting range on Nov. 26.

The contest will take place from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., and don’t worry, the turkeys aren’t real! Participants will be firing at fixed targets using a .38 caliber revolver, and for those who aren’t particularly up to speed on how to use a weapon, the Police Academy staff will be on range to give each shooter a quick lesson on how to properly handle a firearm, as well as providing assistance on the scoring of each target.

There will also be raffle drawings for t-shirts, bakeware, and even actual turkeys!

Back in 2008, over $650 were raised during the first annual of this event, and the Veterans Club donated $200 of the proceeds to “I Support Heroes at Home” program, which helps active duty service members and their families.

This year, the price of participation is $10.00 for 3 shots, and prizes will be awarded to those with the best accuracy. A $100 basket will be given to the 1st place winner, 2nd place will receive a $75 basket, and a $50 basket for 3rd place.

Whether you have an itchy trigger finger, or you feel like supporting a great cause, this year’s Turkey Shoot should be a great turnout for this years holiday season.
