Are you enrolled and in good status in the ADN (RN) or LVN program at Rio Hondo College? How about a single parent or head of household? Do you live in the Rio Hondo College District? Do you need financial assistance? If you answered yes to any of these questions then you qualify for The Assistance League of Whittier/Quaker Chemical/ EPMAR Corporation Scholarship being offered to Rio Hondo College Students.

The Assistance League of Whittier/Quaker Chemical/EPMAR Corporation Scholarship supports nursing students with a scholarship award of at least $500 to be used for school related expenses, such as tuition fees, books, equipment, uniforms and transportation.

To apply for the scholarship, students must complete the application, have one letter of recommendation from a Health Science and Nursing faculty member who has taught and supervised the student, have an essay entitled “Who am I” which addresses academic and career goals as well as financial need and lastly, a copy of academic transcript including current courses and cumulative GPA.

To be considered for the scholarship, students must meet the eligibility criteria, submit their application by Wednesday, Nov. 20, at 12 p.m.  (Application must be addressed to the Rio Hondo College Foundation and will be accepted by mail or can be delivered to the Rio Hondo College mail room in A105 in a sealed envelope, marked Foundation, ALW/Quaker/EPMAR Corp. Scholarship), Be available to attend a scholarship interview with the assistance League of Whittier, and be available to attend Recognition Luncheon at the Assistance League Chapter House on Jan. 20, 2014.
