Successful college experience

The Learning Assistance Center (LAC), seeks to help students become independent learners.

The LAC is in the Learning Resource Center building; located under the library room LR114.

For the funding’s of the LAC students are required to add the lab as a course, and  it comes at no additional cost.

The CRN is 71531.

The LAC is open from Monday through Thursday from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. and on Friday from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Students who will like to set an appointment for a tutoring or workshop must obtain an Instructor/Counselor referral for tutoring and workshop services provided by the LAC upon request.

The referral must be sign by the instructor from which the tutoring is need or by a counselor.

Tutoring may be given, in English, Mathematics, Reading, History, Psychology, most subjects are covered.

The student success workshops are conducted by the instructional assistance of Robert Graham.

They range from: note taking, time management, test taking, memorization skills, public speaking, APA citation, ASA citation, research methodology and personal statement scholarship applications.

Hiram Castro an English major with an expected transfer to UCLA, is a gateway tutor at the LAC.

He tutors in a vastly amount of subjects, English, Mathematics 50 and 70, Political Science 110, French 1-4, Music 101 and beginning guitar.

Castro may be requested among appointment and is usually in the LAC Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m.
