Board of Rio Hondo implements new changes

The Board of Rio Hondo recently recognized the retirement of Judith Rodman, Classified Employee, after her 40 years of service to the District. Congratulations Judy, we wish you the best for a fun and healthy retirement!
The Board also approved three reclassifications; Carolyn Gonzales, Marisel Saenz and Melissa Serrato, all effective as of July 1. The reclassifications involved three divisions, Health Sciences and Nursing, Foster/Kinship Care, and Government & Community Relations.
In the Health Sciences and Nursing division, Carolyn Gonzales, was reclassified from a Secretary to an Instructional Division Secretary. Marisel Saenz, in Foster/Kinship Care was reclassified from Clerk Typist III to a Foster/Kinship Care Education (FKCE) and Independent Living (ILP) Program Specialist. And in the Government & Community Relations, Melissa Serrato went from Clerk Typist III to a Secretary.
The Board also awarded a five year agreement contract with Coca-Cola for the vending of cold beverages, and a lease agreement with Verizon. The agreement with Verizon would entails the installation of a cellular telephone antenna array at the top of the Wray Theater Building as well as a backup generator behind the Music Building. This agreement should help improve Verizon cell phone services on campus.
Hopefully these changes will improve student life and Rio Hondo’s campus, providing great staff, cool beverages, and good cell phone service. (At least to Verizon users)
