Intramural entry deadline extended

Once again it’s time for the Rio Hondo Collage Forensics Speech and Debate Intramural, an event scheduled to take place Friday, Nov. 9 from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m.

This year’s event will continue with its expanded divisions of Impromptu as well as Oral Interpolation of Literature.

Last year the Intramural was also extended to high school participants who will once again be taking part in this year’s event.  Due to the expansion of events and high schools participation there may need to be limited entries for this year.

Students that are interested should have turned in entry forms and fees by Oct. 3 to the Forensics coordinator in her office of A222-E.

However, those in need more time to send in entries, an extended deadline is given which gives students have until Thursday Nov. 18 to send in whatever they need to.

High school participant fees can be mailed to the college in advance to Forensics Coordinator Libby Curiel or paid the day of the tournament.

Students may enter in up to two Individual events or Parliamentary Debate for a nominal$10 per individual event or $30 per Parliamentary Team Debate. A dinner will also be available for an additional $10 per student.

Judges will check in at SS305 and student will check in at Café Rio.

The first round will take place at 1:00 pm followed by the second and final round which takes place a few hours after one another.

Dinner will be served at 6:00 pm in the Café Rio where awards will also be handed out.

Judges are needed for the event, they have to be available from 11:30 a.m. to 7:00 pm. on Nov. 9.  Participating as a judge is not only fun but it can also earn you flex credit. Participation will help make this event a success as well as enjoyable.
