World Tea Expo brews in SoCal

The World Tea Expo is the ultimate convention for anyone who enjoys consuming the healthiest of beverages, but it is also much more than that. Co-located with the Healthy Beverage Expo, this event is the ultimate showcase of the tea worlds latest and best.

One of the ways that the World Tea Expo is more than just a tea convention, is because of companies such as Ajiri Tea, a company founded to help employ and educate women and children in western Kenya, in an incredibly artistic way. Every single bag of tea is a unique, hand made work of art designed and pieced together by women in the Kisii community, using dried bark from the banana trees, and depict a uniquely stylized scene from their lives in Kenya. Ajiri Tea is the real deal, a buyers choice award-winning Kenyan black tea in 2011 and 2012, it is grown at the Nyansiongo Tea Factory. Ajiri Tea’s Kate Holby informed El Paisano that “we sell the tea and package it here in the U.S., we sell it in about 500 stores, and then 100 % of the profits go back to Kenya to pay school fees for orphans in the same region of western Kenya that the tea farmers and women are (located). So we have 28 students in school right now”.

The main goal of the World Tea Expo is to be the epicenter of the North American specialty tea market, with tea being an $8 billion dollar industry in the US, and is even expected to grow by an additional $7 billion by 2015. This is why the World Tea Expo usually features over 200 different exhibitions is sponsored by more than 20 healthy living companies, and features dozens of conference sessions, focused tastings, skill building workshops, and other special events that can be experienced.

Other things that set the World Tea Expo apart is that it is a very interactive experience for anyone attending. It features world origin tasting tours for those with adventurous tastes, skill building workshops on how to create your very own unique beverages, even a tea business boot camp which is designed for people looking to create a path into the world of Tea.
