Car of the week: 1963 Lincoln Continental

The car of the week is an outstanding American automobile, known as the Lincoln Continental.

I found this 63′ Lincoln in our Rio Hondo student parking lot and had a small conversation with the owner Jason Moreno.

We talked about his car and he told me some interesting facts about his Lincoln Continental. I asked Jason what was special about his car and he told me that it was the only American vehicle in 1963 to come with suicide doors.

The Lincoln was also the only car in 1963 that offered a four door convertible.

In 1963 the Lincoln Continental was the upper echelon of American luxury automobiles. This car was a choice of many American presidents, and was also the vehicle that the late John F. Kennedy was assassinated in.

The Lincoln Continental was the popular choice among many Hollywood actors and actresses including the rat pack and Hugh Hefner.

I asked him how much it cost to restore it, and he told me $35,000. He also mentioned that he has been the owner of this car for 13 years. His car has a 430 cubic inch big block engine and the car is completely stock and hasn’t been modified or customized in anyway.

I told him if this car means anything to him and he said, “it’s a throw back to when America was the leading force in auto design and engineering.”

Jason Moreno’s future plans are to maintain the restoration and eventually pass it down to his son.

He also showed me his alternative ride; a 1977 Harley Davidson, Sportster.
