Who Killed the Notorious B.I.G?
It’s been twenty five years since the death of Christopher Wallace or as most people know him, the Notorious B.I.G or Biggie Smalls. It’s been announced that the Los Angeles Police Department had closed the case long ago.
A Brief Introduction of the Notorious B.I.G.
On March 9, 1999 Christopher Wallace was leaving a party at the Petersen Automotive Museum when a car pulled up next to him and opened fire. He was transported to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center where he later died as a result of his injuries.Its been speculated that this was a hit intended for fellow rapper Sean”P.Diddy” Combs.
It’s been recently made public by retired FBI Agent Phil Carson who alleges that Suge Knight hired a hitman to kill Combs. In revenge for the killing of Tupac Shakur. Suge Knight’s record company located in Los Angeles, Death Row records was in a fued with New York City based company Bad Boy Records this has long been speculated the motive behind the hit on Combs. The retired agent also alleges that Christopher Wallace’s killer was a member of the Nation of Islam Amir Muhammad. Who before was known as Harry Billups.
The retired agent also claims that corrupt cops at the Los Angeles Police Department played a part in covering up the murder. Some speculate that some corrupt LAPD officers were also trying to save their reputation by covering up the murder. This was after the events of the 1992 LA Riots. Suge Knight is currently serving a 28 year prison sentence. After being convicted for a murder in a hit and run case. Harry Billups is reportedly living in Georgia as a real estate brooker.
A Few Films
There have been 4 films made about the Notorious B.I.G case. These films are 3 biographical documentary films and one crime/drama. The first film is titled “Biggie and Tupac” which released in 2002 and it is a documentary about the case. Another film titled, “Notorious”, released in 2009. Also, “Last Man Standing: Suge Knight and the murders of Biggie and Tupac” released in 2021. The fourth film is a drama called “City of Lies” released in 2018, starring Johnny Depp and Forest Whitaker. This film is about real life LAPD detective Russell Poole who is investigating a killing of an undercover cop killing another undercover cop. This led him to the Biggie Smalls and Tupac Shakur murders. “City of Lies” is currently on Hulu.
