Fans of the original Evil Dead franchise rejoice. Sam Raimi, director of the original 1981 film says another installment is on the way. During a Q and A panel at this years New York Comic-Con, Raimi gives the audience a brief answer about the horror franchise. Speaking to the audience, Raimi simply said, “There’s more Evil Dead coming.”

Spawning two sequels, with Evil Dead 2 (1987) and Army of Darkness (1992), the new installment will unfortunately continue on without actor Bruce Campbell. Campbell, portrays Ash Williams, the main protagonist in all three original films as well as the fan-favorite series Ash vs The Evil Dead. Campbell will not be staring in the new film but is said to be involved as a producer on the project. Ash vs The Evil Dead aired for only three seasons before being cancelled with a dramatic cliffhanger. Now fans are left clamoring for more.

Another hick-up that seems to be in the minds of fans is the 2013 Evil Dead remake directed by Fede Alvarez and produced by both Raimi and Campbell. The remake stars Jane Levy as the protagonist Mia who potentially serves as the new main character to help carry on the franchise to new lengths. With no news surfacing as to whether or not the continuity of the remake will continue anytime soon, Levy herself provides a coy answer in one of her “Ask Me Anything” sessions on her Instagram account last year. When asked if she would ever be in Evil Dead 2, the sequel to the remake, she responded saying, “I’d be interested. It’s funny, with the Evil Dead creators – nobody can rile a crowd like they do. They really know how to keep that hype going. I have an Instagram, and did one of those ‘ask me anything’s’ and literally every question asked was ‘Will you do Evil Dead 2’ but it’s good because people really like it.”

No word yet as to when the new Evil Dead will start pre-production or if Raimi will indeed come back as director or help produce the film. But one thing’s for sure, fans of the franchise eagerly await for any news concerning deadites and the heroes that will battle them for the fate of the world.
