Game Of Thrones Season 8 Episode 2 Recap

We are back for another new episode of Game of Thrones. This time with less recap and more set up to what will happen in later episodes. Overall a good episode and expecting this to be the last of the “heartfelt” episodes. Now onto the recap and remember SPOILERS AHEAD.

WINTERFELL and The LANNISTERS

The episode starts up with Jaime Lannister in front of queen and her council. Everyone is of course skeptical for their own reasons until Brienne vouches for him. Jaime gets a lot of development this episode as he even talks to Bran. Which has him apologizing for what he had done which is something his character in the past would never do. Bran sees it as more of it made them both into the people they are today so all is forgiven for now.  Tyrion is also having his own troubles as Jamie reveals that Cersei was never planning to fight with them. This makes him as the hand look like a fool in Daenerys’ eyes. It is not until Jorah convinces her that Tyrion has done more good then bad. He also goes on to convince her to talk to Sansa as well.

WINTERFELL and PREPARATIONS

As we see throughout the episode Winterfell is working non stop to prepare for the battle against the walkers. As we see more dragon glass weapons then ever and we get lots of planning in war room. There Bran reveals that the Night King is actually after him. While after we have a lot of the cast hanging around the fire before the big fight. Here we get Brienne getting knighted by Jamie which was a really beautiful moment. After, Podric starts to sing Jennies Song while we get shots of characters who care for one another. Which also includes a newly found love in Gendry and Arya. This scene really sets up more stakes as does the episode for what could be entirely lost next episode.

ENDING and WRAP UP

In the last few minutes we finally get John revealing his true identity to Daenreys. She may not fully believe him but she does take concern in him being the rightful heir to the throne. We then get our final shot with the White Walkers lined up and staring directly at Jon, Tyrion and Daenreys. With only 4 episodes left and next week episode being a very large battle, I would expect some heartbreaking losses very soon.
