‘A Million Ways to Die in the West’ produces a million laughs

Review Rating: 5/5 Stars

Seth MacFarlane has done it again.

A Million Ways to Die in the West” has people laughing from start to finish.

MacFarlane’s hilariously inappropriate and crude humor is what makes this film unlike any other. The movie features many A-List actors with special appearances from characters in films unrelated to this one.

The stars of the film include Seth MarFarlane, Charlize Theron, Liam Neeson and Amanda Seyfried, who together give one of the best comedic performances of the year.

The film debuted in theaters on May 30 and received mixed reviews across the board. Despite receiving a surprising 33% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes, the movie grossed in close to $42.3 million dollars.

And although the movie is set in a Western town in the 1800’s, much of the humor is intended to appeal to this generation of young people referencing terminology up to date with present day social media.

Set in a small western town in Arizona in 1882. It begins with MacFarlane’s character named Albert, a sheep farmer, stumbling into town to meet his neighbor for a shoot off.

Albert ends up talking his way out of the near death experience and afterward meets up with his girlfriend Louise, played by Amanda Seyfried.

On their date Louise proceeds to break up with Albert claiming she needs time to work on herself.

Just outside of town, audiences are introduced to Clinch and his wife Anna. Clinch is played by Liam Neeson and Anna by Charlize Theron. Clinch is the most dangerous outlaw in the West and Anna is fed up with being married to such a ruthless killer.

The cast of actors picked for each specific role was definitely spot on.

Neeson is best known for his most recent roles in Taken and Taken 2. In “A Million Ways to Die in the West” he takes on a sterner role as the villain of the entire Western vicinity of the country.

This is also one of the first times Theron has played a comedic role, as she plays a mysterious beautiful woman who randomly appears in town one day.

MacFarlane does a great job of making the audience sympathize with the poor sap who has just been dumped, to having them root for his triumphant victory throughout the film.

All cast members bring their own unique sense of humor to the film making “A Million Ways to Die in the West” a hilariously good time.

The film was released on DVD Oct. 7 and can also be watched via Google Play or Amazon.
