“I would have to say Korn…The first thing that surfaced [for me] was their self-titled album, and everything changed for me.” – Chris Perkins, vocalist for ‘These Raven Skies’

With influences like Led Zeppelin, The Tea Party, and Korn; the four-man Canadian rock band brought their talents and influences with them to conjure up These Raven Skies. These Raven Skies consists of vocalist Chris Perkins, guitarist Alex Whitcombe, bassist Trevor Landmark, and drummer Shand Munro.

The band is currently on tour with the Uproar Festival, sponsored by Rockstar Energy Drink.

Not only are they promoting their debut, self-titled album, but they are also promoting their new single, “No Need to Worry”.

Perkins and Whitcombe were kind enough to be featured in an interview at the Sept. 16 stop of the Rockstar Uproar Tour.

Jazmin: You guys were telling me that in Canada you released “Come Sit Next to Me”, why did you guys release to different singles?

These Raven Skies (Alex): It was just the way the radio promoters wanted to go at the time. They thought that “Come Sit Next to Me” would be more suitable for the UK market, at the time, which was really classic rock driven.

JL: Where can we find your new album, These Raven Skies?

TRS (Alex): You can find it everywhere online.
(Chris): You can even go to theseravenskies.com and get hardcopies of our CD there.
(Alex): They’re only $20, and it includes shipping.

JL: Is this tour the band’s first?

TRS (Alex): No, we’ve toured a lot, but this is actually our first major U.S. tour.

JL: While growing up, if you could pick any band to be in, who would it be?

TRS (Alex): It could be The Tea Party. I’ve always been a big fan of Jeff Martin and Led Zeppelin.
(Chris): I would have to say Korn…The first thing that surfaced [for me] was their self-titled album, and everything changed for me.

JL: How’s it like living with a bunch of dudes [on the road]?

TRS (Chris): We’re actually pretty strict on the whole cleanliness thing. We run a tight ship mostly because we do have a female present (Whitcombe’s fiancé).

JL: Well, congratulations guys! Here’s to wishing you guys continued success with the rest of the tour, and thanks so much for the interview!
