After a long and fantastic season of live music, the Greek Theatre had to end the highly entertaining 2013 season on a high note. How? With an outstanding and memorable lineup of St. Lucia, Capital Cities, and Two Door Cinema Club.
St. Lucia kicked off the night with a funky opening performance that ran for thirty minutes.
Fans in the front row of the pit were chanting “St. Lucia” until the start of their set. They opened with their hit “The Night Comes Again” and got fans on their feet.
“Closer than This” followed, and their performance set the mood for the night. Jean-Philip Grobler, the man behind St. Lucia and lead singer exuded amazing stage presence and danced across the Greek Theatre stage for the entirety of their set.
Capital Cities followed their performance witha forty-five minute set that featured a unique cover of the BeeGee’s “Staying Alive”.
The trumpet player, Spencer Ludwig, stole the show with his stellar talent and presence. Of course, Capital Cities closed their set with the song that brought them fame and is on almost every radio station, “Safe and Sound.”
The intermission between Capital Cities and Two Door Cinema Club seemed like an eternity as the moon shined among the crowd and the stars filled the sky. Fans were on their feet before the set even began.
Two Door Cinema Club opened their performance with “Sleeps Alone” and the crowd went insane.
Lead singer Alex Trimble had minimal stage presence, although it was a pleasure to watch them mirror their sound on their albums “Tourist History” and “Beacon”.
The crowd adored them; t-shirts were worn proudly, lyrics were screamed deliriously, and applause was offered generously over the course of their lengthy performance.
The encore of “What You Know” figuratively blew the ‘roof’ off of the Greek. The season ended in the best way possible with this uniquely talented lineup.
