Rio Hondo presents the second installment of the Fitness and Sports Talks

The Fitness Specialist program at Rio Hondo presented their second installment of the Fitness and Sports Talks on Oct. 21 at the Wray Theater.

The talk which started at 1 p.m. and lasted until 2 p.m., was hosted by Dr. Kimberly Shediak and presented her topic on Generation C.

The talk mostly consisted of what one can do to help market themselves to everyone else and how it can give you a brand in the process.

Shediak began with talking about what the C in Generation C meant and said it stood for a multitude of words like creators, consumers, connectors, community organizers, communicators and controllers.

She mentioned that all of those words can describe a person who knows what they can offer and more in specific, what you can do on social media.

Shediak noted that people usually want to focus on themselves and how it was okay to do that while taking advantage of it as well.

Shediak listed popular social media websites and mentioned how they allow you to market yourself at a faster pace, naming websites like Twitter and how one should follow people one looks up to and watch their every move, using Pinterest. Shediak also stated that one should create boards related to one’s expertise. Broadcasting on YouTube and creating short videos on topics one is an expert on and even blogging was encouraged.

She listed one website in specific, named LinkedIn  that one can use to their advantage by allowing one to post blogs, endorse others and accept connections.
