Chancellor Bennett, better known as Chance the rapper, has reached the peak of popularity in the rap industry after winning three Grammy’s this past week. Bennett has yet to be signed to a label because he believes in the theory in which music should be free for his fans. Bennett has three mixtapes released currently, recognized as 10 day, Acid Rap, and Coloring Book. After winning Best Rap Performance, Best Rap Album, and Best New Artist at the Grammy’s he continued to thank God for all that he had done for him and Chicago. Chance the Rapper was born and raised in the South side of Chicago, along with another talented artist, Kanye West.
Bennett continues to recognizes all the struggles Chicago has to deal with such as the poverty and violence. He believes in using his fame and fortune to help Chicago in any way possible like teaming up with non-profit organizations. With the political controversies of President Trump, Bennett decided to give his opinion on Trump’s statements on Chicago in a recent interview for The Undefeated, alongside ESPN the Magazine.
Chance the rapper began by stating “I’m tired of n—–s talking about Chicago like it’s a Third World country. Like, that it’s not a place of booming business with a very successful downtown and all types of new development.” Bennett later ends by saying, “It sounds like he was announcing he was going to war with Chicago.”
That said, Chance the Rapper continues to protect Chicago while still performing his duties as an independent artist. Taking home three Grammy’s, resulted in celebration with a release of his 37- date spring tour. Bennett continues to shed light on all the good of Chicago and all the bad.
