‘Sausage Party’ is Raunchy Fun

*May contain spoilers!*

Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg collaborated once again in this raunchy, comical animation film about a sausage who tries to discover what’s outside the supermarket doors. Sausage Party packs not only various types of humor, but also contains an intriguing storyline that makes this a must-see film.

The story is about a sausage named Frank, played by Rogen, who is led to believe, along with every item in the market, that humans are gods. They are also made to think that getting chosen is an honor. It is said that outside the doors there exists something called the great beyond, where everyone is believed to live together freely and in harmony.

When a mishap occurs, Frank is left behind along with his girlfriend Brenda, voiced by Kristen Wiig, and other food items. It is there where a journey begins and Frank, Brenda, a Lavash, and a bagel named Sammy plan to head back to their aisles in hopes to slip inside another package. Along the way, Frank visits non-perishable items that reveal the truth about the great beyond to him.

Sausage Party is a fun and entertaining film to watch. It is not meant to be taken too seriously and instead parodies films made by companies such as Disney and Pixar. It is humorous with puns around every corner, and every other sentence can be interpreted as having a sly innuendo.

Although some scenes could be considered too much and left some audience members feeling uncomfortable, most seemed to enjoy the movie. It has received positive reviews by both critics and movie-goers alike. The main actors who can be heard are Michael Cera, Bill Hader, Salma Hayek, Edward Norton, and David Krumholtz to name a few.

The ending scenes of the film can have the effect of either being hilarious or completely disgusting. While looking around the room, many faces were mixed with both shock and amusement. Audience members left the theater speechless.

Regarding a sequel to the movie, Rogen has expressed that he is interested in one. The original ending was cut to open that possibility if one is made. Other films that Rogen and Goldberg have collaborated on include films such as “Superbad”, “Pineapple Express”, and “This Is the End”.

The film reached a worldwide gross of $88.7 million. It received a total of $33.6 million on the opening week and came in second behind “Suicide Squad” at the box office.

If you’re looking to watch a film that is both inappropriate and unmissable, Sausage Party is the movie for you.
